The Lighting Fixture – I was inspired by architect Albert Frey and his building, the Tramway Gas Station (now the Visitor Center)
PROJECT #2 – LIGHT FIXTURE
One of the advantages we have as students is there are so many great works in Architecture from which to choose and many more are being planned for in the near future.
Our immediate assignment was to research and choose a specific Architect that interests us and study their work. Realizing that there are many interesting facets related to their work, we had to find a specific design motif that we would consider implementing in the design of a light fixture.
The design of a light fixture that relates to a certain theme, idea, topic, or style of an Architect’s work can seem relatively simple, but the goal is not to view the project in that manner. Instead, your goal is to capture the essence of the Architect’s design motif, incorporate it in your design of a light fixture so it is clearly recognizable, expressive, aesthetically bold to the point where it becomes not only an artistic conversation piece, but also a functional complementary fixture to a room. Additional required criteria for the fixture are noted below. Any size is acceptable as long as the main idea is satisfied Any finish material(s) is acceptable.
Wood, Acrylic, LCD Lights, Metal, and Glue.
